| Abstract: | This paper describes the historical development of the U.S. Leave No Trace (LNT) educational program. It begins with a review of the need for the program and traces it?s conception and early development in the 1970`s, revitalization in 1991, creation of Leave No Trace, Inc., and the current status. The paper concludes with a discussion of the program?s elements that have made it successful and recommendations for the development of similar educational programs. |
