| Abstract: | Based on geologic and geochemical surveys the Long Swamp Roadless Area is considered to have a probable resource potential for metallic minerals in three separate areas. An area of hydrothermal alteration west of the Chewack River contains anomalous concentrations of copper, lead, zinc, molybdenum, and silver. Relatively high concentrations of gold and silver along Windy Creek and copper and lead along Basin Creek have been detected in stream sediments. The bedrock sources of these elements have not been located, but are probably rather small. There is little promise for the occurrence of energy and nonmetallic mineral resources in the roadless area. |
