| Abstract: | The Clarion River Roadless Area comprises 6. 3 sq mi in the southeastern part of the Allegheny National Forest, Elk County, Pennsylvania. The area has a substantiated resource potential for gas and a probable potential for oil. About 1. 3 million short tons of coal in beds between 14 and 28 in. thick have been identified in the area. Construction materials occur in the area, but no resource potential is identified; there is little promise for the occurrence of metallic mineral resources in the area. This assessment is based on a mineral-resource survey. |
