| Abstract: | The complex geology of northern Sonora has a variety of environments suitable for gold mineralisation, and many of the gold prospects occur within or adjacent to the southwestern boundary of the megashear in Precambrian, Mesozoic and Tertiary rocks. The characteristics types of gold deposits have been delineated by reconnaissance field investigations of the authors. There are four main environments of lode gold deposits present in Sonora: epithermal veins and breccias; discontinuous quartz veins; structurally controlled Au; and carbonate sedimentary-hosted disseminated Au. -after Authors |
