| Abstract: | Smoothed values of the heat capacities and derived thermodynamic functions are given for bunsenite, magnetite, and hematite for the temperature interval 298.15 to 1800 K. The Gibbs free energy for the reaction Ni + 0.5O2 = NiO is given by the equation ??rG0T = -238.39 + 0.1146T - 3.72 ?? 10-3T ln T and is valid from 298.15 K to 1700 K. The Gibbs free energy (in kJ) of the reaction 2 magnetite + 3 quartz = 3 fayalite + O2 may be calculated from the equation ??rG0T = 474.155 - 0.16120 T in kJ and between 800 and 1400 K. The Gibbs free energy (in kJ) of the reaction 6 hematite = 4 magnetite + O2 may be calculated from the following equations: ??rG0T = 496.215 - 0.27114T, ??rG0T = 514.690 - 0.29753T, ??rG0T = 501.348 - 0.2854T. -from Author |
