| Abstract: | In 2005, domestic production of industrial sand and gravel was about 31 Mt, a 5% increase from 2004. This increase was bouyed by robust construction and petroleum sectors of the US economy. Based on estimated world production figures, the United States was the world‘s leading producer and consumer of industrial sand and gravel. In the short term, local shortages of industrial sand and gravel will continue to increase. |
