Abstract

Nitrate was detected in samples from 25 of 27 wells; concentrations in 6 of the samples exceeded the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency maximum contaminant level of 10 milligrams per liter for drinking water. Arsenic was detected in samples from 23 of 27 wells, but all concentrations were below the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency maximum contaminant level of 50 micrograms per liter. Radon was detected in samples from all 27 wells. No volatile organic compounds were detected with concentrations greater than the method detection limit.
