Abstract

Eight holes were drilled in that part of T. 24 S., R. 5 E. which is in the Willow Springs 7 1/2-minute quadrangle, Emery and Sevier Counties, Utah (fig. 1). This drilling was done from June 15 to July 14, 1977, to obtain information on the thickness and extent of coal in the Cretaceous Ferron Sandstone Member of the Mancos Shale and on the lithology of the enclosing rocks. The overall goal of the project is evaluation and classification of federally owned coal resources and lands in the Emery coal field.
