Abstract

Rainfall and runoff data collected during the 1981 water year for the Austin, Texas metropolitan area are reported. In 1975, the program was expanded to include the collection of water-quality data. In 1978, the program was expanded to include a ground-water resources study of the south Austin metropolitan area in the Balcones Fault Zone. The information will be useful in determining the effect of urbanization on flood peaks, volume , and water quality. The major streams in the study area are Onion Creek, Baron Creek, Walnut Creek, Bull Creek, Boggy Creek, Shoal Creek, Williamson Creek, Slaughter Creek, Bear Creek, and Waller Creek. All streams in the area are within the Colorado River basin. Detailed rainfall-runoff computations are presented for several storms during the 1981 water year. Water-quality data for sites in the Austin metropolitan area are also given in this report. (USGS)
