| Abstract: | This report contains rainfall and runoff collected during the 1986 water year for the Austin, Texas metropolitan area. In 1975 , the program was expanded to include the collection of water quality data, and in 1978, to include a groundwater resources study of the south Austin metropolitan area in the Balcones Fault Zone. The information will be useful in determining the effect of urbanization of flood peaks, volume, and water quality. The major streams in the study area are Onion Creek, Barton Creek, Walnut Creek, Bull Creek, Boggy Creek, Shoal Creek , Williamson Creek, Slaughter Creek, Bear Creek, and Waller Creek. All streams in the area are within the Colorado River basin. Rainfall-runoff computations are presented for seven storms producing rainfall over 3 inches during the 1986 water year. Water quality data for sites in the Austin metropolitan area are also given in this report. (USGS) |
