Abstract

The relations between channel storage and discharge at the Peoria and La Grange Dams on the Illinois River are defined. The relations were developed by regressing channel storage against peak discharge at the dams. Peak discharges at the Peoria Dam ranged from 19,700 to 79,500 cu ft/sec, whereas those at the La Grange Dam ranged from 27,200 to 122,000 cu ft/sec. The storage-discharge relations are linear for the range of discharges used in the analyses. For a given discharge, the channel storage upstream from the Peoria Dam is 2.4 to 4 times greater than that upstream from the La Grange Dam.
