Abstract

The shelf samples are rich with their diversity increasing seaward to the edge of the shelf or the upper part of the continental slope. Miliolids and elphidiids predominate on the inner part of the shelf. Their dominance gives way to textulariids and bolivinids as the shelf edge is approached. Cassidulinids and nodosariids become prominent near the shelf edge and on the slope. Samples from the Blake Plateau are less rich in benthonic species and specimens but are strongly dominated by planktonic specimens. -from Authors
