Abstract

This map presents the potentiometric surface of the Floridan aquifer in central Sumter County, Florida, for May 1982. The Floridan aquifer is the principal source of potable water in the area. The focus of the map is the potentiometric surface in the Jumper Creek Canal area for the low water-level period. Water-level measurements were made at approximately 60 wells. The potentiometric surface ranged in altitude from more than 95 feet in the southeast part of the county to less than 35 feet northwest of Lake Panasoffkee in the west-central area. (USGS)
