During fiscal years 1982 and 1983 there were 22 water resources investigations in progress by the Arkansas District of the U.S. Geological Survey 's Water Resources Division. Investigations that mainly involved data collection included surface water gaging, water level measuring, water quality sampling, sediment sampling and water use inventorying. Interpretive studies included two that were principally of groundwater resources, five that were of surface water flow characteristics, one that was of surface water quality characteristics and six that were interdisciplinary.
