Abstract

This report is one of a series of 37 reports presenting records of stage and discharge of streams, and of stage and contents of lakes and reservoirs in the United States during the 1966-70 water years; it contains the records for gaging stations and partial-record stations in the Snake River Basin. Since 1888, when the U.S. Geological Survey first studied streamflow in relation to problems of irrigation, similar records have been obtained at more than 19,500 gaging stations in the 50 States. On September 30, 1970, the Geological Survey and cooperating organizations were maintaining 10,000 gaging stations. Partial-record stations for low flow or for floodflow have been operated at many other points.
