Abstract

The article describes the current breeding distribution and breeding biology of the Brown-headed Cowbird, factors influencing nest parasitism, and effects of management practices on reducing cowbird parasitism and controlling cowbird populations, with emphasis on the Great Plains and the cowbird>'s impact on other species of grassland birds. A table presents the rates of brood parasitism for known hosts of Brown-headed Cowbirds, and includes previously unpublished data.
