Abstract

The equation describes the specific volume, compressibility, and expansivity of sea-water as functions of T and P. Additional parameters of state were calculated on the basis of the empirical equation. Results of the calculations permit determination of the depth below the sea-floor to phase separation and other features of sea-floor geothermal systems. Appendices present the various parameters used in the calculations, coded in a Fortran programme, as well as the results of calculations for intervals of 5oC and respective saturation pressures along the two-phase boundary and for the overall liquid field at 10oC and 100 bars.-M.S.
