Abstract
The membership of the Committee during the past year has continued as it was a year ago [see Trans. Amer. Geophys. Union, p. 433, 1940].
During a large part of the year, particularly during the last few months, many of the members of the Committee have been engaged in activities more or less closely related to defense. As a consequence it has been necessary to omit or postpone some research studies that might otherwise have been carried on, and the following report is briefer than usual.
